R&R DAY! J
We started our R&R day with yummy breakfast at Moliden’s. Everyone enjoyed the Western breakfast with pancakes, scrEambled eggs, fruits and other delicious stuff! :D
We proceeded with shopping at a supermarket. The various welfare groups bought a lot of food to stock up so we can look forward to good food this week!
We went to a wet market next where some groups looked for more food while others did their own shopping. We had fun bargaining and got several items like hats and slippers at really good prices. J
Before heading back to the Guest House, we stopped by a bookstore to get some English books and provide resources to the school’s library. We also got some of the Cambodian English Textbooks that next year’s groups can refer to!
Lunch at the Little Garden Bar (10 seconds van ride from our Guest House) was very filling. Most of us could not finish our food but we just stuffed it in anyway, [the boys used some silly game to see who had to finish the extra food] One thing worth mentioning was that Ryan and Michael were amazing and helped the 2 of us with lunch orders so that we could join the rest and start eating too!
We visited the Epic Arts Café which is a place that offers jobs to the disabled, and also provides a place for the disabled to hang out. Also, the profits from the sale of their YUMMY food [carrot cake, brownies, cookies, muffins] and cute products goes to the charity! Many of us bought handmade purses, finger puppets, T-shirts and jewellery and ordered their desserts.
We reached “home” and the welfare group started preparing dinner while the rest practiced the dance and later helped out with housework and Hygiene fair preparations.
Dinner was served and everyone was very impressed with the rice Siyu cooked because it was not lumpy and mushy!! We had 3 side dishes, namely corned beef, tofu with vegetables and potato with green pepper.
Even though we did not keep to schedule closely today and were late for breakfast and meeting at the supermarket, on the whole we feel that the day went pretty well! We got positive feedback from most of our team mates, and that was very encouraging (: On the whole, we realized that it’s important to stick to timing and respect one another. Also we learnt how to handle the situation even if things did not go according to plan (:
